Our Services

Exterior Waterproofing

Exterior waterproofing involves the application of a waterproof membrane, such as Blueskin or dimple membrane, and techniques to prevent water infiltration and damage to the foundation from the outside. This method focuses on addressing the root cause of water intrusion by creating a barrier between the exterior soil and the foundation walls. Typically, the process begins with excavation around the perimeter of the foundation to expose the exterior walls completely. Any existing cracks or deteriorated areas are repaired, and the surface is thoroughly cleaned and prepared. Waterproofing membrane is then applied to the exterior walls to create a watertight seal. Additionally, drainage systems, such as weeping tile and sump pump, may be installed to redirect water away from the foundation. By preventing water from reaching the foundation walls, exterior waterproofing helps to maintain the structural integrity of the basement and protect against moisture-related issues such as mold, mildew, musty smells, and foundation damage.

Pony Walls

A pony wall, in the context of basement repair, refers to a low-height wall constructed to reinforce or stabilize a damaged foundation wall. These concrete walls are essential for providing structural support and preventing further deterioration of the foundation. These walls are crucial in situations where the existing foundation wall is built from concrete block or brick, and may not be able to be braced using the traditional means. The process involves having an engineer carefully asses the extent of damage and then provide a stamped plan to work from, which will outline the proper course for repair. Finally, using this plan, a new concrete wall is prepped and installed alongside the existing foundation, either internally or externally, to provide additional support and stability, effectively repairing the damage and ensuring the structural integrity of the basement.

Basement Slab Replacement

Ground shifting, often due to soil expansion or contraction, can lead to cracks, uneven surfaces, and structural instability in a basement slab. Replacing a basement slab floor is a labor-intensive process that begins with removing the existing concrete by breaking it into manageable pieces for removal. Once the removal is complete, we take the proper steps to bring the substrates up to compliance with modern code. This includes adding radon rock, radon mitigation piping, vapour barrier, and rebar. This time is also perfect to plan ahead, by laying out the plumbing connections for any future development you plan to do in your basement space. Finally, a new concrete slab is placed and finished. Throughout the process, careful attention is paid to drainage systems and waterproofing measures to mitigate the risk of future damage.

Foundation Replacement

Replacing a crawlspace or grade beam, with a full-height basement enhances property value, increases usable living space, improves energy efficiency, and provides better access for maintenance and storage. To replace a foundation, an engineer creates a plan for the new foundation. This process typically begins with securing the property and having an engineer asses the structural integrity of the house. Then, a house lifting system consisting of beams and lift towers is strategically placed beneath the house to gradually lift it off the existing foundation. Once lifted, the old foundation can be removed, and the new foundation can be constructed as per the engineered plans. Finally, the house is lowered onto the new foundation, ensuring a stable and secure base for the structure. This method allows for the replacement of a foundation without demolishing the entire house, minimizing disruption and preserving the integrity of the building.

Internal waterproofing

Internal water management is an ideal option for clients who do not want to disturb the landscaping and improvements around the exterior of their home, such as garden beds, decks and concrete driveways. Internal weeping tile, also known as an interior drainage system, plays a pivotal role in water management within basements, particularly in structures facing issues such as water seepage, dampness, or flooding. The need for interior weeping tile arises primarily due to factors like poor soil drainage, high water tables, or inadequate exterior waterproofing. These conditions can lead to water seepage through basement walls or floors, posing risks of mold growth, structural damage, and diminished indoor air quality. Interior weeping tile installation involves placing perforated pipes or channels along the interior perimeter of the basement, which collect and redirect water to a sump pump system for safe discharge away from the foundation. The benefits of interior weeping tile are multifaceted: it effectively manages water intrusion, reduces hydrostatic pressure against basement floors, prevents moisture-related issues, and helps maintain a dry, healthy indoor environment. By addressing the root causes of water seepage and implementing proactive water management solutions, homeowners can safeguard their investment, enhance property value, and ensure long-term structural integrity. In addition to our core services, we also offer permit application services, as well as the demolition, re-framing, and drywalling of basement walls as part of our offerings.

Basement Wall Bracing

Basement wall bracing is a method of foundation repair that is used to stabilize and reinforce basement walls that have become compromised due to various factors such as soil pressure, hydrostatic pressure, or structural deficiencies. It starts with having an engineer assess the foundation and create a stamped plan for repair. Next, a system of steel braces or beams is installed against the interior surface of the basement walls to counteract the forces exerted on them and prevent further movement or collapse. This technique is needed when walls show signs of bowing, cracking, or leaning, indicating structural instability. There are many benefits to basement foundation bracing: it can halt further deterioration of the foundation, restore structural integrity, and ensure the safety and longevity of the entire building. All of these factors benefit the value of the property, and ensure top resale value if you ever plan to sell your home. By addressing the underlying issues causing wall instability, basement wall bracing not only provides immediate support but also offers long-term peace of mind to homeowners.

In addition to our core services, we also offer permit application services, as well as the demolition, re-framing, and drywalling of basement walls as part of our offerings.
